Last year, a little before Easter, my daughter and I went to the dollar store for something, and we came across these adorable plush, super soft bunnies. A couple of days later, we went back and grabbed several. I had checked the tag on them and was absolutely delighted to discover they were polyester and I could sublimate them. I was going make my daughter and grandkids a custom bunny for Easter, I couldn’t wait.
I got to work on a design, well I did several designs. I decided to do several areas of the bunny. I was going to do the ears and a foot. The ideas were racing through my head…. I love when that happens. When I was happy with my designs I got everything ready and prepped the bunnies. With sublimation, I have to tape the image to the item to ensure it doesn’t move. The bunny looked so funny when I was done but I was incredibly excited to see how they would look. I have a couple of presses that I use. I initially got a small easy press and an even smaller hand press. I started with the hand press, thinking that the areas were so small, that press would work best. I wasn’t happy with how long it was taking so I brought the bigger one out. That went a lot faster.

The ears were a lot easier to do than the paw. But once I got the first one done, the others were a breeze. I was very pleased with the results. I had a few days to wait until I could give them to the kids but I was very excited to see how they would react.

There was only a couple of variations for color on the bunnies when we got them. Which worked out so that each child had a different color, making them all totally unique for each child. That along with their names.

I also found an Easter image for each child, one that I thought might fit them. They are all different and I wanted to celebrate that on these bunnies. I hope they will keep these for a long time and know that they were made with blood, sweat and lots of love.
